Palm Sunday Services
9a & 10:30a | March 24 | In-person & Online
Cornerstone UMC will offer a classic service at 9a in the Sanctuary and a modern service at 10:30a in The Corner. Both services will feature the waving of palm branches as Jesus experienced upon his entry into Jerusalem.
Palm Sunday begins a week of remembrance for Christians. Throughout this week, we reflect on the events that led to Jesus' resurrection.
About Palm Sunday
The name, “Palm Sunday,” comes from a story in the Bible in which Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem.
Prior to this event, Jesus and his friends roamed the countryside teaching and performing miracles, gaining a lot of recognition.
The people of Jerusalem were very excited that Jesus was coming to their city to celebrate a religious festival. In their excitement, the people grabbed palm branches to wave around and threw their cloaks before Jesus on the road.
